Certified Student Leader
Fall Enrollment Opening Soon!
Program Description
The Certified Student Leader (CSL) program is a co-curricular certification available to students at Florida Atlantic University interested in enhancing their knowledge, application, and skills through a variety of leadership and service opportunities. These opportunities, events, and programs aim to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, professionalism, ethics, and oral written communications.
The CSL program must be completed within the timeframe below:
Students who enroll in the program from September 1st, 2022 - to October 1, 2022, will have until May 1, 2023, to complete all requirements.
Students who enroll from January 1, 2023, to February 1, 2023, will have until July 31, 2023, to complete all requirements.
How to Apply:
To participate in the program, you must first fill out an enrollment application. The application can be found at http://fau.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/start/545806
Once your application is approved you will then receive a confirmation email to join us for a workshop that will detail program requirements, focus on helping to define your “WHY” statement as a leader, and create leadership goals you would like to obtain through this program. The new member workshop will be sent out in early August.
All enrolled participants will be invited to enroll on the CSL Canvas site. Canvas will allow students to submit data, documents, and support for their completed programs.
CSL Program Requirements
The following information will detail the requirements that need to be completed for the CSL Program. Flexibility is built into this program, by allowing students to pick events, internships, or service opportunities that align with each competency.
In total, throughout the academic year, students must attend eight programs (one within each NACE competency) and meet a minimum of two times with their CSL adviser/mentor. At the conclusion of the year, during the End of the Year Celebration, students will share or display a poster presentation of their journey within the program.
Program Competency Areas
As noted above, students must attend one program, service opportunity, activity, or conference within or outside of the university. Your CSL mentor can help you select and find programs that relate to your goals as a leader. Once you have attended a program similar go into the canvas and submit a brief reflection about the event, program, service activity, or conference.
